Vendor pages re-read 3 measured Lovable runsBubble priced from its own pages, not run

Lovable vs Bubble: code you own or a visual app you rent

Both now start from a prompt. Lovable writes a React app you can sync to GitHub; Bubble's AI Agent builds an app in its visual editor, where the logic stays editable without code and the app can only run on Bubble. Read on 23 October 2026, the vendor pages also part on the meter (credits per message against workload units plus AI credits), on mobile, where Bubble ships native apps and Lovable ships web apps, and on who can edit. Only Lovable has been run here.

    Which one for you

    Four questions, one answer

Do you want to change the logic by clicking, without reading code?
Do you need an app in the App Store or Google Play?
Could you ever want to run the app somewhere else?
How many people will edit the app?

    Your answer

    Either, on these answers

Nothing you answered separates them. Read the meter section: that is where the bills diverge.

Scored from the facts in the table below, one row per question. Lovable gets no bonus points.

    What you pay for

    What does each meter count?

Lovable meters the building. Bubble meters the running app in workload units and the AI Agent in AI credits, on top of a plan price. In their own words, read on 23 October 2026.

Lovable: credits for building, Cloud credits for running

    • Build mode pricing is usage-based, billed on the complexity of the request and the work completed; Plan mode is 1 credit a message plus any research it runs. Lovable credits docs
    • Free: 5 build credits a day up to 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud, 4 AI and 1 connector credit a month. Pro: €25 a month for 100 credits, read 22 October 2026.
    • Monthly plan credits roll over and expire 2 months after issue. At a zero balance, building stops and apps on Cloud pause.
    • Our measured runs: 1.8, 9.5 and 10.4 credits for three builds, and 3.1 to make the test app installable on a phone.

Bubble: workload units for the app, AI credits for the Agent

    • Workload units measure the server work the running app does, across 12 activity types, each with an entry cost plus a cost by attribute. Free includes 50K a month, Starter 175K, Growth 250K, Team 500K. Bubble workload manual
    • Without a workload tier, overage is $0.30 per 1,000 units. With overages switched off, the app is taken offline at the limit. Bubble pricing FAQ
    • AI credits pay for the Agent's edits and image generation: 500 a month on Free, 1,000 on Starter, 2,000 on Growth, 4,000 on Team. Included credits do not roll over; purchased ones expire after 6 months. The visual editor uses none. Bubble AI credits manual
    • Generating a new app with the Agent, planning session included, uses no AI credits, per Bubble's comparison post. Bubble prints no workload figure for a typical app, and we did not run it. Bubble vs Lovable post

Bubble's pricing page rendered only the Web & Mobile plans billed annually on 23 October 2026; the web-only prices are from Bubble's own post. A Lovable credit pays for building; a Bubble workload unit pays for the running app, so the two allowances do not convert.

    What you keep

What do you own when you leave?

This is the row that decides the choice for most readers, and both vendors state it plainly, read on 23 October 2026.

Lovable: the code is a repository

    • Two-way GitHub sync on every plan, one branch at a time. Git sync always creates a new repository. Lovable GitHub docs
    • The repository is a React app you can run and host elsewhere; the migrations for a Cloud database travel with it, and the data is exported from the Cloud section.
    • Lovable builds web apps and does not generate React Native projects, so the phone version is a PWA or a wrapper, per its FAQ. Lovable FAQ

Bubble: the data is yours, the app stays on Bubble

    • Bubble apps can only be run on the Bubble platform; there is no way of exporting the application as code. Bubble ownership manual
    • User-created data exports as CSV files, and the Bubble API reads it; Bubble's post adds that you own the design and the data.
    • Leaving Bubble therefore means rebuilding the app elsewhere from your data and your screens, with no code to start from.

When to choose Bubble and when to choose Lovable

    Bubble

    Choose Bubble if

    • You want to change logic, data rules and layout by clicking, without reading code
    • You need a native app in the App Store and Google Play from the same builder
    • The app will live on Bubble for good, so the missing code export costs you nothing
    • You value a mature plugin ecosystem and a visual editor that uses no AI credits

    Lovable

    Choose Lovable if

    • You may ever leave: the code syncs to GitHub on every plan, Bubble exports none
    • Three or more people edit: unlimited collaborators, where Bubble Team includes 5
    • Your traffic is unpredictable: Lovable meters building, and a Bubble app with overages off goes offline at its workload limit
    • You want to know what a prompt costs before you pay: we measured 1.8, 9.5 and 10.4 credits

Lovable's record carries CVE-2025-48757, insufficient row-level security in generated projects, and an April 2026 flaw in its own API that let a free account read another user's source and database credentials, patched for new projects and not remediated for projects created before November 2025. We found no comparable Bubble incident in the publications we read; Bubble's own risk is the one in its manual, an app that cannot leave. Reporting by The Next Web, SC Media. The security guide has the scans we ran on our own project.

Making the test app installable on a phone as a Progressive Web App, 26 September 2026, our own workspace: 3.1 credits, no feature or table changed.

That panel is the only build evidence on this page, and it is Lovable's. The cheapest of the 3 runs, landing page + email opt-in, cost 1.8 credits of the 5 a free account gets each day; the prompt page has the builder and the screenshots, and the pricing guide turns every run into builds per plan. Bubble has no equivalent row here because we did not run it.

    The right column describes you?

Start on the Free plan: 5 build credits a day, no card. Our cheapest measured build, landing page + email opt-in, cost 1.8 credits in one round.

How we compared, and what we did not publish

    • Prices and rules from Bubble's pricing page and manual, read on 23 October 2026; web-only prices from Bubble's own Lovable comparison post, which dates them 20 October 2026. Lovable's docs read 23 October 2026, its prices 22 October 2026.
    • Credit figures only from runs in our own Lovable workspace, read from the credits page before and after.
    • Bubble's post reports a Lovable test build without its prompt or cost; we quote its pricing and ownership statements and none of its test claims.
    • Incidents only when reported by named publications, with dates.

    Not published

    • The same app built in Bubble. We hold no Bubble account, and we will not estimate workload units.
    • Bubble's workload tier prices and a per-action workload table: the manual describes 12 activity types and prints neither.
    • Mobile-only Bubble plan prices, which the pricing page did not render.
    • Whether editing in Bubble's AI Agent costs more or less than the same change in Lovable: neither vendor prints a per-change figure.

    Frequently asked

    Is Bubble cheaper than Lovable?

For a web app on an annual plan, about the same at the entry: Bubble Starter Web at $32 a month billed annually ($39 monthly), per Bubble's own comparison post stating prices as of 20 October 2026, against Lovable Pro at €21 billed annually (€25 monthly, read 22 October 2026). Bubble's next step is Growth Web at $119 a month annually; Lovable's ladder climbs in €25 steps of 100 credits. Add mobile on Bubble and the pricing page's Web & Mobile Starter is $59 a month billed annually.

Can I export my code from Bubble?

No. Bubble's manual says its apps can only be run on the Bubble platform and there is no way of exporting the application as code; its own Lovable comparison says the same. You can export your data as CSV files or read it through the Bubble API (read 23 October 2026). Lovable syncs the code to GitHub both ways on every plan.

    Does Bubble have AI now?

Yes, an AI Agent that plans and generates a first version of an app from a prompt and edits it across design, data, logic and integrations. Bubble's post says generating an app, including the planning session, uses no AI credits; editing with the Agent does, from a monthly allowance of 500 on Free to 4,000 on Team that does not roll over. The Agent works on the development database only and cannot delete data types or fields (read 23 October 2026).

Which one builds a mobile app?

Bubble builds native mobile apps on its Mobile and Web & Mobile plans, with 5 to 20 app-store build submissions a month from Starter to Team on its pricing page. Lovable builds web apps; its docs say it does not generate React Native projects, and a phone install goes through a Progressive Web App or a Capacitor wrapper. We made our test app installable as a PWA for 3.1 credits on 26 September 2026.

What happens if a Bubble app gets popular?

It spends workload units, which Bubble's manual splits across 12 activity types, each with an entry cost plus a cost by attribute. Without a workload tier the overage is $0.30 per 1,000 units; with overages switched off, the app is taken offline at the limit (read 23 October 2026). Lovable meters building, and Cloud usage from its own Cloud credits; at a zero balance, apps on Cloud pause.

Did you run the same prompt in both?

No. The measured runs on this page are Lovable, in our own workspace, with the credits panel read before and after. Bubble's side is its pricing page, manual and its own comparison post, each dated. Bubble's post reports a test build in Lovable with missing features and broken navigation and gives no prompt or cost, so it is not evidence here either way.
