Bolt.new alternatives, sorted by the reason you are leaving

People leave Bolt.new for one of three reasons: the token bill grows with the project, they want a shell or their own editor, or they want to stop prompting their way through logic. Each reason has different replacements. This page sorts six by the reason, prints every price as read on 23 October 2026, says which of them can open the repository Bolt syncs to GitHub, and shows what the Lovable route cost in our own measured runs.

    Lovable vs Bubble →

Scored from the facts in the table below, by the reason you are leaving Bolt. Lovable gets no bonus points.

    Why are you leaving?

Three reasons, three sets of replacements

The token bill grows with the project

    Lovable · Base44

Both bill per message by the work done, where Bolt's tokens count the project files it reads.

You want a shell or your own editor

    Cursor · Replit · v0

All three open the repository Bolt synced to GitHub; v0 if the app is Next.js on Vercel.

You want to stop prompting logic

    Bubble

The AI Agent builds the first version; after that, you click logic and data rules into place in the visual editor.

Bolt's own token docs explain the first reason, read 23 October 2026: most of your token usage comes from Bolt reading, understanding and syncing your project files, so larger projects use more tokens per message.

Which alternatives can open the repository Bolt syncs?

Bolt commits every change to GitHub and downloads a ZIP (read 23 October 2026), so a Bolt project leaves as a repository. What happens next depends on whether the alternative can open one.

Take the Lovable route if and take another route if

    Lovable

    Take the Lovable route if

    • The token bill is why you are leaving: Lovable bills per message on the work completed
    • You want a flat price for planning: Plan mode is 1 credit a message plus research
    • Two or more people build: unlimited collaborators, where Bolt Teams bills $27 a member
    • You want to know what a prompt costs before you pay: 1.8, 9.5 and 10.4 credits measured

    Elsewhere

    Take another route if

    • You are bringing the repository: Cursor, Replit and v0 open it, Lovable cannot
    • You want a terminal beside the agent (Replit) or the agent in your editor (Cursor)
    • The app is Next.js headed for Vercel and you review pull requests (v0)
    • You want to click logic instead of prompting it and accept staying on the platform (Bubble)
    • Your security posture is audited and the project would be on Lovable before November 2025

Bolt's own docs carry the reason most people search this: tokens are spent reading and syncing your project files, so a growing project costs more per message. The alternatives have records of their own. Lovable carries CVE-2025-48757 and an April 2026 API flaw, patched for new projects and not remediated for projects created before November 2025; Replit's agent deleted a production database during a code freeze in July 2025. Reporting by Bolt token docs, The Next Web, Fortune. The security guide has the scans we ran on our own project.

Lovable workspace credits panel after the empty states and skeletons run on 26 September 2026
The Lovable meter, read before and after: the empty states and skeletons run on 26 September 2026 cost 9.5 credits in our own workspace, 2 questions asked first.

Bolt prints no per-task token figure; Lovable's credits panel shows what each run cost, and we read it before and after every build. That 9.5-credit run built a states gallery and a task list. No other alternative on this page was run. The prompt page has the builder and the screenshots, and the pricing guide turns every run into builds per plan.

How we compared, and what we did not publish

    • Prices and limits from each vendor's own pricing page and docs, re-read 23 October 2026; the read date sits on every row.
    • Bolt's meter is quoted from its own token docs, with the date.
    • Incidents only when reported by named publications, with dates.
    • Sorted by the reason, never ranked: six tools, one measured.

    Not published

    • The same prompt run in Bolt or any of the six: a fair harness needs paid accounts on all of them.
    • A token count for a typical Bolt build: Bolt prints none and we will not estimate one.
    • Design-to-code and UI-generation tools some lists include: we read none of their pricing pages, so they are not on the table.
    • Bubble's web-only plans in the sortable table, which uses the pricing page's Web & Mobile figure; the web-only prices are on the Lovable vs Bubble page.

    Frequently asked

What is the best Bolt.new alternative?

It depends on why you are leaving. If the token bill grows with the project, Lovable or Base44 bill per message by the work done. If you edit the code by hand, Cursor on your laptop or Replit with a shell. If the project is Next.js headed for Vercel, v0. If you want to stop prompting logic altogether, Bubble, at the cost of the code. There is no single best; a list that names one is selling it.

Is there a free Bolt.new alternative?

Yes, several. Bolt's own free plan, read 23 October 2026, is 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap. Lovable gives 5 build credits a day up to 30 a month, Base44 25 message credits a month, Bubble 50K workload units a month for an app under construction, Cursor a free plan with limited requests, v0 7 messages a day. Replit listed no free plan on the same day.

Why does Bolt use so many tokens?

Because of what the meter counts. Bolt's token docs, read 23 October 2026, say most of your token usage comes from Bolt reading, understanding and syncing your project files, so larger projects use more tokens per message. A one-line change to a big app is not a cheap request. Code view edits use no tokens, which is the cheapest fix inside Bolt.

Can I move my Bolt project to another tool?

Yes. Bolt commits every change to GitHub and also downloads a ZIP (read 23 October 2026). Cursor, Replit and v0 open the repository. Lovable and Base44 cannot import an existing repository, and Bubble has no code at all, so a Bolt project moving to any of those three is a rebuild from prompts.

    Is Lovable better than Bolt?

For a project that will grow, the meter favours Lovable: credits per message on the work completed and a flat-rate Plan mode, against tokens that grow with the project. For a project you already have, Bolt wins, because it imports a repository and Lovable cannot. The full head-to-head, with both ladders and both records, is on the Lovable vs Bolt page.

    Which alternatives did you run?

Lovable. The credit figures on this page come from our own runs in our own Lovable workspace, read from the credits page before and after. We did not run Bolt, v0, Cursor, Replit, Base44 or Bubble, so nothing on this page ranks output quality. Prices and mechanics are what the vendor pages say on the date printed.
